They haven't been a punk band since 1990. Their 82-89 stuff was punk, but they've been metal since Blind.

With all those talented musicians coming together, Down couldn't help but be an awesome band. Come on they've got members of CoC, Pantera, Crowbar, and Eyehategod, that's just a recipe for some heavy shit.
